POSITION SUMMARY

The primary role of the Culinary School Assistant Chef is to support the lead Culinary School Chef in delivering engaging cooking classes. This position is essential in fostering a positive learning environment where participants can explore both basic and advanced culinary techniques.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adhere to established policies and procedures to maintain a high standard of operation.
  • Ensure the culinary school environment is clean, organized, and visually appealing.
  • Prepare ingredients and materials for cooking classes.
  • Facilitate cooking classes in an interactive and enjoyable manner.
  • Provide outstanding customer service while assisting in hands-on and demonstration classes.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative recipes for class use.
  • Promote and sell Harmons products effectively.
  • Complete assigned tasks promptly and efficiently.
  • Assist in menu planning and ingredient procurement.
  • Serve as a role model for professionalism and positivity.
  • Communicate effectively with the Culinary School Chef and Coordinator.
  • Maintain safety, sanitation, and productivity standards.
  • Support other areas of the business as required.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Mentor and provide feedback to culinary school interns.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position involves regular interaction with both customers and store associates, fostering a collaborative atmosphere.

QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A degree in culinary arts or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to multitask effectively while teaching.
  • Current TIPS Certification and Food Handlers Permit.
  • Extensive knowledge of food, ingredients, and cooking techniques.
  • A friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and listening.
  • Ability to handle conflicts professionally.
  • A commitment to personal and team success.
  • Integrity, a positive attitude, and a passion for culinary education.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This role requires the ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods, as well as the capacity to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
