MHC is currently seeking a full-time Human Resources Specialist. This professional role encompasses a variety of human resource functions related to recruitment, onboarding, compliance, employee relations, payroll, unemployment benefits, affirmative action, training, and other related tasks as assigned.

Compensation: $24.36 per hour. MHC provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform administrative tasks such as preparing reports and correspondence, including memos, letters, and presentations. Responsibilities also include making copies, scanning, faxing, and filing, as well as proofreading documents for accuracy and layout.
  • Coordinate the collection of employee documentation, including auto registration, insurance, and license information, as well as data entry into database systems. Process background and DMV checks.
  • Establish and maintain accurate department records and reports through effective filing and database management. Complete data entry as necessary to uphold system integrity.
  • Maintain essential Human Resources documentation, particularly employee personnel files, in compliance with Federal and State laws and record retention policies.
  • Provide backup support for maintaining and organizing the office environment and supplies, including kitchen, lobby, copy room, and conference room areas.
  • Manage HR-related supply ordering and inventory.
  • Draft and distribute monthly email notifications, coordinate logistical scheduling, and prepare materials for new employee orientations. Arrange catering orders and interpreter services as required.
  • Monitor the HR inbox and distribute incoming emails to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain the company organization chart, program code listing, and leadership contact list.
  • Update and maintain HR SharePoint forms and files accessible to MHC staff as needed.
  • Assist with payroll system maintenance and data entry as required, including reviewing and closing timecards, assigning HR-required training, and coordinating performance management documentation.
  • Support the Onboarding & Recruitment Coordinator as needed, including processing background checks, posting job openings, and scheduling interviews.
  • Act as a liaison in collaboration with the training department, maintaining and updating training administrative portals and preparing training materials.
  • Prepare invoices related to assigned responsibilities in a timely manner.
  • Respond to employment verification requests as needed.
  • Work independently and collaboratively on special projects as assigned, engaging with other staff and departments.
  • Assist with internal and external organizational events as assigned.
  • Participate in committees as required.
  • Contribute to the development of departmental goals, objectives, and systems, proactively recommending and implementing procedures to enhance workflow.
  • Act as a backup for the Administrative Coordinator, including responsibilities related to Board of Director liaison and CEO support.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required; an Associate's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in a professional environment with a strong emphasis on confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively and comprehensively.
  • Proficiency in current office and business software, including Microsoft Word, Teams, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Electronic Medical/Health record software, SharePoint, and accounting software.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid CT driver's license and auto registration and insurance.
