Job Summary

The Senior Plant Maintenance Technician is a key member of the Waste Management team, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of all plant systems and equipment. This includes monitoring and maintaining balers, conveyor belts, gearboxes, electrical motors, pulleys, shafts, and bearings, as well as responding to system failures and completing repairs to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs in accordance with Waste Management's Safety and Life Critical Rules and OSHA requirements.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections, diagnose, repair, and rebuild major equipment and components, including balers, conveyors, hydraulic power packs, eddy currents, electro-magnetic belts, optical sorters, diverters, compressors, trash compactors, motors, glass breakers, wire tie systems, fans, pumps, forklifts, front-end loaders, and building equipment.
  • Maintain a Daily Equipment Inspections (DEI) backlog and establish and adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Provide guidance and direction to other maintenance personnel, interpret, prioritize, and assign preventive maintenance and work requests.
  • Inspect the quality of third-party repairs and rebuilds and recommend measures to improve production, equipment performance, and product quality.
  • Manage inventory control, ordering of replacement parts, tools, and supplies through purchasing and conduct physical parts inventories.
  • Lead non-supervisory employees and other staff, including contractors, consultants, and temporary employees.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities, perform service calls for emergency breakdowns, and work under limited supervision.
  • Requires a flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends, to support the operating schedule and facility needs.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA Standards and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • Four (4) years of relevant work experience.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment drug screen and physical.
  • Proficient in welding and fabrication, knowledge of single and three-phase electrical systems, electrical control systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and safely operating tools and equipment.

Work Environment

  • Required to use motor coordination with arms, hands, fingers, and legs.
  • Required to engage in physical activity that includes pushing, pulling, bending, and lifting objects more than __ pounds.
  • Required to work from ladders or raised platforms.
  • Required to stand or work on concrete floors most of the workday.
  • Will be exposed to a physical environment involving dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes, or similar elements most of the workday.
