Position Summary:
GEM is seeking a Technical Editor to contribute to our mission. This is a full-time role that will provide essential support to a prominent national laboratory. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within a reasonable commuting distance from the laboratory, with potential for a hybrid work schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality technical editing as part of a dedicated editing and communications group.
  • Collaborate closely with subject matter experts and management to refine technical documents.
  • Edit and enhance existing technical materials while assisting in the preparation of new documents.
  • Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and adaptability to shifting priorities and deadlines.

Clearance & Citizenship Requirements:

  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government-issued clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory due to the nature of the work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with complex technical documents and procedures is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with large, intricate organizations or institutions is preferred.
  • Experience with multi-agency technical programs is a plus.
  • Background in managing sensitive and classified documents is beneficial.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, English, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of English grammar and punctuation, along with significant experience in technical editing and writing.
  • Proven ability to assess technical documents for the appropriate level of editing based on various factors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on problem-solving and customer service.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and maintain professional interactions.
