Position Overview

ProSphere is in search of a Technical Editor/Communications Specialist to enhance our editorial team. This role is essential for delivering high-quality communication support across various projects and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities


• Engage in a broad spectrum of internal and external communication tasks, both strategic and operational, ensuring measurable outcomes and continuous improvement.

• Utilize your extensive expertise in technical editing to assist subject matter experts and management in refining technical documents. You will be responsible for editing existing materials and aiding in the preparation of new documents. The ideal candidate will exhibit exceptional attention to detail, initiative, and the capacity to adapt swiftly to shifting priorities and tight deadlines.

Essential Skills and Qualifications


• A comprehensive understanding of English grammar and punctuation, along with significant experience in technical editing and writing.

• Proven ability to assess technical documents to determine the appropriate level of editing required based on various factors such as complexity, length, structure, and deadlines.

• Experience in performing diverse levels of editing, from basic proofreading to in-depth substantive editing, on specialized technical documents.

• Capability to grasp and learn new technical concepts and terminology quickly.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with strong problem-solving and interpersonal abilities.

• Proficiency in managing multiple, sometimes conflicting, deliverables and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. The ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of technical personnel and management is crucial.

• Ability to maintain professional and courteous interactions with team members and a variety of stakeholders, both internal and external.

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat, with a solid understanding of Word styles and templates and PowerPoint formatting.

Educational Background and Experience


• A bachelor’s degree in communications, English, or a related discipline, along with a minimum of five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications


• Experience with highly technical documents and procedures is advantageous.

• Familiarity with large, complex organizations or institutions is desirable.

• Experience in managing large, multi-agency technical programs is a plus.

• Experience with sensitive and classified documents and communications is beneficial.
