As a member of our elite team of professional editors, you will be integrated within a specific organizational unit to provide essential technical editing services to subject matter experts, managers, and leaders.
Your responsibilities will include editing existing technical documents and assisting in the preparation of new materials. The ideal candidate will possess a keen attention to detail, initiative, and the capacity to swiftly adapt to shifting priorities and tight deadlines.
Essential Qualifications:Technical Proficiency
A comprehensive understanding of English grammar and punctuation is required, along with substantial experience in technical editing and writing.
Demonstrated expertise in assessing technical documents to determine the necessary level and depth of editing based on various factors, including length, complexity, structure, and deadlines, is essential.
Experience in performing a range of editing levels, from basic proofreading to substantive editing on specialized technical documents, is required. The ability to grasp and learn new technical concepts and terminology is also necessary.
Communication Abilities
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with strong problem-solving and customer service capabilities, are crucial.
Project Management and Client Relations
The ability to manage multiple, sometimes conflicting, deliverables and deadlines in a high-pressure environment where priorities frequently change is vital.
Effective collaboration within a team and with various technical personnel and managers is essential.
Maintaining professional and courteous interactions with team members, technical personnel, and a range of managers is required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat is necessary. A solid understanding of Word styles and templates, as well as PowerPoint-specific formatting, is also required.
Educational Background and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in communications, English, or a related field is required, along with a minimum of five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:Industry Insight
Experience with highly technical documents and procedures is advantageous.
Familiarity with large, complex institutions or companies is desirable. Experience in managing large, multi-agency technical programs is also a plus.
Experience in handling sensitive and classified documents and communications would be beneficial.
