Key Responsibilities
• Engage in a diverse range of internal and external communication tasks, both strategic and tactical, to achieve measurable outcomes and foster continuous improvement.
• Utilize your expertise to navigate complex challenges within the specialized field while collaborating with cross-functional teams. Your contributions will be vital in shaping the organization’s objectives and goals. You will work with minimal supervision, receiving general guidance on new assignments. Your performance will be assessed upon completion to ensure that all objectives are met effectively. Demonstrating sound judgment is essential as you determine the best approaches to solutions and plan activities accordingly. You should be open to feedback and committed to professional development.
Required Qualifications
• A comprehensive understanding of English grammar and punctuation, along with substantial experience in technical editing and writing.
• Proven ability to assess technical documents to identify the necessary level of editing based on various factors such as length, complexity, and deadlines.
• Experience in performing multiple levels of editing, from basic proofreading to in-depth substantive editing on specialized technical materials.
• Capability to quickly learn and grasp new technical concepts and terminology.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a strong focus on problem-solving and customer service.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining effective collaboration with team members and technical personnel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat, with a solid understanding of Word styles and templates, as well as PowerPoint formatting.
Educational Background and Experience
• A bachelor’s degree in communications, English, or a related discipline, coupled with a minimum of five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with highly technical documents and procedures is advantageous.
• Experience within large, complex organizations or institutions is desirable.
• Background in managing large, multi-agency technical programs is a plus.
• Experience with sensitive and classified documentation is beneficial.
