Position Overview

We are in search of a seasoned technical executive to take on the role of Senior Aerospace Innovation Manager. The ideal candidate is a dedicated leader with extensive experience in mechanical and/or systems engineering, showcasing a proven history of delivering intricate aerospace solutions within tight timelines. This individual is driven to develop groundbreaking aerospace systems and platforms that will advance technologies for the future of flight at GE Renewable Energy Power and Aviation. The Senior Aerospace Innovation Manager collaborates with Technology Directors, Research Programs Office, and Chief Engineers to identify and implement systems and platforms necessary to elevate low technology readiness levels (TRL 2) to TRL 5+. Key Responsibilities

As the Senior Aerospace Innovation Manager, your responsibilities will include:
  • Collaborating closely with Technology Directors, staff, Research Programs Office, GE Renewable Energy partners, and key stakeholders to design and evaluate innovative platforms and systems that demonstrate and enhance Aerospace Research technologies.
  • Leading a team of engineers and technicians to deliver systems and platforms that physically test and validate novel Aerospace Research technologies, advancing their technology readiness levels.
  • Mentoring and developing team members on career trajectories, project management, and Lean methodologies.
  • Promoting a transparent and cooperative environment that fosters a culture of interdisciplinary collaboration and proactive engagement.
  • Implementing EHS standard operating procedures and best practices, ensuring security compliance, and working with leaders and technologists across GE Renewable Energy to enhance our safety and compliance culture.
  • Building and nurturing strategic partnerships with Aerospace Research trades, supply chain, and collaborators to mitigate program risks.
  • Executing a recruitment strategy aimed at attracting and retaining a diverse pool of top-tier technical talent.
  • Championing all relevant modeling, simulation, and testing capabilities to drive technical differentiation and innovation for future demonstration systems and platforms.
  • Ensuring operational excellence, identifying and addressing risks, and supporting corrective action plans as necessary, while promoting continuous improvement through standardized processes and key performance indicators.
  • Actively engaging in the GE Renewable Energy leadership community, contributing to a culture of collaboration and innovation.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in thermal management, fluid-thermal systems, or a closely related area.
  • Proven track record of advocating for compliance and safety standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across various organizational levels.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring technical professionals at all levels.
  • Proven capability in achieving operational excellence.
  • Demonstrated leadership in technical projects, with the ability to build, lead, and energize cross-functional teams in high-impact technology areas.
  • Experience managing comprehensive project scopes, including design, development, delivery, and testing of complex systems under tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with U.S. government-sponsored research initiatives.
  • Willingness to engage in hands-on activities when necessary.
  • Eligibility to obtain U.S. Government Secret Clearance, with the potential for a Top-Secret Clearance; U.S. citizenship is a prerequisite for security clearance.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline, with at least 7 years of experience in aerospace systems, physical prototyping, and/or testing environments.
  • Passion for aerospace applications and the innovation of enabling technologies.
  • Proactive and action-oriented mindset.
  • Strong ability to navigate complex organizational structures.
  • Familiarity with the GE Renewable Energy business and the aerospace sector.
  • Experience with Model-Based Engineering / Model-Based Systems Engineering principles, tools, and implementation.
  • Knowledge of best practices in physical testing.
  • Ability to collaborate across all functions and levels as part of a cohesive team.
  • Capacity to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to inspire excellence and drive change.
Compensation and Benefits:

The compensation for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience. In addition, this role is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of the base salary.
