Position Overview

The Library is in search of a Senior Library Collections Coordinator to join our team. This role is pivotal in supporting the management of collections, public services, course reserves, and outreach initiatives. The library serves a diverse community engaged in music and performing arts, providing essential resources and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and contribute to collections management, overseeing stacks and maintenance projects.
  • Supervise public service operations during late afternoon and evening hours, addressing patron inquiries and resolving issues.
  • Organize and manage faculty course reserve requests to facilitate exceptional research.
  • Assist in overseeing student staff within public services.
  • Act as the outreach and exhibits coordinator, promoting library services, resources, special events, and exhibitions to the community.
  • Digitize print materials for reserves and document delivery.

This position operates Monday through Friday, from 10 AM to 6 PM.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three years of library experience or equivalent, with proven expertise in managing collections and circulation.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective time and project management abilities.
  • Experience in a supervisory role.
  • Ability to read music and understand various notation systems, along with familiarity in music history and theory.
  • Knowledge of bibliographic databases and library systems.
  • Proficiency in digital tools including email, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office, with a willingness to adopt new technologies.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Physical capabilities include lifting books and moving large book trucks.
  • High School diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, particularly in music or performing arts.
  • Competency in Western European languages.
  • Familiarity with cataloging standards and metadata structures.
