Position Overview:
An esteemed educational institution is seeking a Library Collections Coordinator. This role will act as the primary access point for materials designated for in-library use only, ensuring their safe management within the organization's temporary facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage service points while upholding library policies and providing basic reference assistance to patrons.
  • Facilitate access to collections that are restricted to in-library use.
  • Support staff workflows as necessary.
  • Report maintenance and facility concerns in the absence of supervisory staff.
  • Oversee student workers at service desks and processing areas, escalating issues to management as needed.
  • Assist with shelving, stack maintenance, and the utilization of designated spaces.
  • Contribute to collection development and maintenance initiatives.
  • Support processing of off-site requests and returns.
  • Engage in stack weeding projects and bibliographic research.

Additional Duties:
As assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • At least one year of experience in an academic, research, or special library, or a public library with a research component.
  • Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to adapt and be resourceful in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent organizational and service-oriented interpersonal skills.
  • Capability to prioritize tasks and respond to changing circumstances effectively.
  • Ability to manage pressure, meet deadlines, and multitask.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency, including desktop software and scanning, along with basic knowledge of hardware and imaging equipment.
  • Familiarity with bibliographic conventions and experience with online catalogs or databases.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to maintain productivity and accuracy in detail-oriented tasks.
  • Experience in public service and a strong service orientation.
  • Physical capability to lift and shelve books, including using stepladders and handling large book trucks.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Ability to work with bibliographic citations in multiple European languages.
  • Experience in arts or humanities library collections.
  • Familiarity with integrated library systems.
  • Experience with rare or archival collections.
  • Intermediate reading knowledge of one or more Romance or Germanic languages is advantageous.

Work Schedule:
7.25-hour workday, Monday to Friday, with a designated lunch break.
