Position Overview:

The Senior Process Engineer will play a pivotal role in supporting the Poromerics operating unit, primarily focusing on front-end modules. This position reports to the Poromerics Technical Area Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comprehend all relevant process technologies, equipment, and control systems. Collaborate with Technical Advising, Product Quality, and plant personnel to enhance operations and achieve business and plant objectives.
  • Oversee the implementation of Process Safety Management in designated areas.
  • Engage in advanced troubleshooting and mentor others in these competencies.
  • Apply best practices to optimize operations, ensuring Standard Operating Procedures and specific Operating Discipline requirements are adhered to.
  • Fulfill necessary Manage Production roles as determined by Plant/Business requirements.
  • Utilize knowledge in Statistical Process Control (SPC) to maximize plant asset utilization and produce high-quality, cost-effective products.
  • Review operational charts daily.
  • Accountable for the Process Control Systems within their designated processes.
  • Document and respond to Out of Control data points.
  • Draft Corrective Action Plans for recurring issues.
  • Initiate updates to Plant Operating procedures to maintain their validity and relevance.
  • Network with fellow engineers on-site and within the global business to share insights on plant operations.
  • Communicate technical information and issues to plant personnel and Technology or Expertise centers as necessary.
  • Participate in and lead teams as required.
  • Monitor and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as needed.
  • Implement process enhancements aimed at reducing variation and improving capacity and yield.
  • Monitor and address raw material variability.
  • Collaborate with Quality Coordinators and Technical Advisors to manage non-conforming products.
  • Conduct and participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and other relevant assessments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering is required, with a preference for Chemical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in production engineering is preferred.
  • Strong background in Process Safety Management and High Hazard Processes is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and analysis is strongly preferred, along with a basic understanding of statistics.
  • Prior experience in batch chemical processing is preferred.
  • Experience in participating in or leading Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) is advantageous.
  • Ability to interpret and act on analytical results is a plus.
  • Previous experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies or certification is beneficial.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills are essential.
  • Knowledge of machine safety protocols is required.
