Position Overview:

The Lead Process Engineer will play a pivotal role in supporting the Poromerics operating unit, primarily focusing on front-end modules. This position reports directly to the Poromerics Technical Area Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Master all relevant process technologies, equipment, and control systems. Collaborate with Technical Advising, Product Quality, and plant personnel to enhance operations and achieve business objectives.
  • Ensure adherence to Process Safety Management protocols within designated areas.
  • Engage in advanced troubleshooting and mentor others in developing these skills.
  • Implement operational best practices to optimize performance, ensuring Standard Operating Procedures and specific Operating Discipline requirements are consistently followed.
  • Assume appropriate Manage Production roles as determined by Plant/Business requirements.
  • Utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques to maximize plant asset utilization and produce high-quality, cost-effective products.
  • Review operational charts daily and maintain accountability for Process Control Systems.
  • Document and respond to Out of Control data points, drafting Corrective Action Plans for recurring issues.
  • Initiate updates to Plant Operating procedures in collaboration with the Technical Advisor.
  • Network with engineers both on-site and globally to share knowledge and improve plant operations.
  • Communicate technical information and issues to plant personnel and relevant expertise centers as necessary.
  • Lead and participate in teams as required.
  • Monitor and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as needed.
  • Drive process improvements aimed at reducing variation and enhancing capacity and yield.
  • Work with Quality Coordinators and other stakeholders to address non-conforming products.
  • Conduct and participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and other necessary evaluations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering is required, with a preference for Chemical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in production engineering is preferred.
  • Strong background in Process Safety Management and High Hazard Processes is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and analysis is strongly preferred, along with a basic understanding of statistics.
  • Familiarity with batch chemical processing is advantageous.
  • Experience in leading or participating in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret analytical results effectively is beneficial.
  • Previous experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies or certification is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and complete tasks independently and collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of machine safety protocols is essential.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, troubleshooting, and organizational skills are required.
