Position: Health and Safety Specialist I

Reports to: Health & Safety Manager

Location: Holland, MI

LG Energy Solution Michigan Inc. (LGESMI) is a leader in the development and manufacturing of advanced lithium-ion polymer batteries for electric vehicles and energy storage solutions.

Position Summary

The Health and Safety Specialist I plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with safety and health regulations at construction sites. This position is responsible for fostering a safe working environment and maintaining adherence to safety standards. The specialist will utilize their expertise to safeguard the health and safety of employees, clients, and contractors by developing and implementing site-specific safety plans, overseeing compliance, and conducting safety audits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of current and upcoming construction and renovation projects.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and health regulations at construction sites.
  • Identify and mitigate potential safety and health risks.
  • Track and communicate recurring construction issues to the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) management team.
  • Manage and complete all necessary permits for construction and renovation activities.
  • Conduct regular site visits during construction, including pre-construction assessments and safety audits.
  • Assist in the investigation of incidents and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Facilitate new hire orientations and contractor safety training.
  • Participate in external safety inspections for all projects.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health or Environmental Health & Safety, or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred certifications include Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Associate Constructor (AC), Certified Professional Contractor (CPC), or Certified Safety Manager Construction (CSMC).

Experience:

  • 1 to 3+ years of experience managing construction and remodeling projects.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of construction methods and technologies.
  • Ability to adapt to unexpected changes and plan accordingly.
  • Proficient in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with construction safety practices such as LOTO, Hot Work, Confined Space, and more.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with various stakeholders.
  • Understanding of hazard assessments and job safety analysis.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
