Position Overview:

As a key member of the Division of Public Health Licensing Services, you will oversee the operations of the Bureau of Marijuana Licensing. This role is crucial in managing the licensing process for various facilities and providers, ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and mentor lower-level staff, providing guidance and support.
  • Facilitate the issuance and renewal of licenses, ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
  • Conduct initial and periodic inspections of marijuana facilities, sober living homes, and group homes to assess regulatory compliance.
  • Lead advanced investigations into complaints regarding licensed and unlicensed facilities.
  • Prepare and review detailed inspection reports and correspondence related to licensing status changes.
  • Engage with the regulated community and regulatory bodies, addressing technical inquiries and contributing to standard development.
  • Provide technical assistance to both providers and consumers, fostering effective communication.
  • Participate in and lead meetings with staff, advisory committees, and stakeholders.
  • Analyze client feedback to enhance service delivery.
  • Oversee the training program for new hires, creating training materials and delivering presentations.
  • Monitor quality systems by tracking documentation and corrective actions.
  • Generate reports and performance metrics to support continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A comprehensive understanding of federal regulations and state statutes relevant to licensed facilities.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • The capacity to prioritize tasks and solve problems effectively.
  • A commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment.

Preferred Experience:

A Bachelor's degree coupled with a minimum of three years of experience in compliance or management roles is preferred.

Additional Requirements:

Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and be willing to travel as needed. Successful completion of required training certifications within two years of hire is mandatory.
