Position Overview:

This role involves overseeing the operations within the Division of Public Health Licensing Services, specifically focusing on the Bureau of Long-Term Care Facilities. The incumbent will assist in the issuance and maintenance of licenses for healthcare facilities and providers, ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations. Responsibilities include conducting initial and annual compliance inspections of regulated healthcare institutions to assess their conformity with established standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the licensing process for healthcare facilities and providers, ensuring ongoing compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and recertifications of healthcare institutions to verify compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Lead advanced investigations into complaints regarding licensed or unlicensed facilities, ensuring that all services requiring regulation are performed effectively.
  • Manage and direct subordinate staff, including setting work priorities, conducting training, and overseeing performance evaluations.
  • Engage with the regulated community and regulatory bodies, providing technical assistance and responding to inquiries from licensees.
  • Facilitate meetings with staff, advisory committees, and stakeholders to discuss regulatory matters and gather feedback.
  • Oversee quality assurance systems by tracking documentation, corrective actions, and quality metrics.
  • Develop and generate reports, dashboards, and performance metrics to monitor compliance and operational effectiveness.
  • Supervise the training program for new employees, creating training materials and delivering presentations as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned related to the position.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree along with 3+ years of experience in a surveyor or compliance officer role, or in management/project management. Preference will be given to candidates with a professional license in the State of Arizona or those eligible for reciprocity.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Candidates must have a valid driver's license and be able to travel statewide. A valid level one fingerprint clearance card is required, or candidates must apply for one within 7 working days of employment. Additionally, candidates must obtain specific national certification training within two years of hire.
