Role Responsibilities:

The Clinical Trial Capabilities (CTC) organization provides the necessary infrastructure, support, and solutions to enable the Clinical Operations and Development Organizations to execute clinical trials efficiently and in compliance with regulations, delivering transformative medicines to patients.

The Business Strategy & Operations team within the CTC organization is tasked with spearheading strategic and operational enhancements and implementing processes for Clinical Operations. The Senior Manager, Business Strategy & Operations will oversee and manage new workstreams and initiatives for the Clinical Operations organization in a dynamic and highly regulated environment. This role will also involve multi-project responsibilities and serve as a project manager for complex initiatives and working groups.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as Project Manager, driving assigned initiatives/projects and working groups to ensure timely progression.
  • Serve as the execution implementation lead, ensuring that completed initiatives are integrated into Clinical Operations practices (e.g., office hours, collaborating with learning and development to create and implement training).
  • Contribute to new and existing Clinical Operations and non-Clinical Operations led workstreams/initiatives to provide insights and drive key processes from a Clinical Operations perspective.
  • Report on study CRO/Vendor sourcing strategies and headcount allocation.
  • Review and recommend enhancements to Clinical Operations process management/improvement and related procedural documentation in collaboration with business process owners, cross-functional stakeholders, and subject matter experts.
  • Collaborate with other CTC sub-functions to guide study teams, business process owners, cross-functional stakeholders, and subject matter experts on initiative recommendations.
  • Promote standardization and the adoption of best practices across the Clinical Operations organization.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong foundation in Project Management principles.
  • Ability to navigate projects in ambiguous situations and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Manage multiple projects while ensuring high-quality outcomes from self and team.
  • Align stakeholders, manage project scope, and lead teams to meet timelines.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to define project objectives, scope, and deliverables for process optimization initiatives.
  • Influence leaders across various disciplines through a project plan by providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure successful project execution.
  • Implement project/process improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma to drive continuous improvement across the organization (preferred, but not mandatory).

Core Technical Skills:

  • Analyze problems and logically structure problem-solving strategies to address identified or anticipated issues.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of FDA, EMA, and other relevant national regulations, including ICH guidelines and GCP.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to synthesize inputs from various stakeholders into coherent deliverables and outputs.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Strong advocate for change with a solid understanding of change management strategies.
  • Demonstrated leadership presence with the ability to lead without authority and influence programs, projects, and initiatives.
  • Exhibit strategic enterprise thinking to discover innovative methods for enhancing process efficiency.
  • Support the organization and key stakeholders on a change journey with discipline, transparency, and authenticity.

Education & Experience:

  • 6+ years of relevant experience in Clinical Operations/project management or process improvement with a Bachelor's degree.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in Clinical Operations/project management or process improvement with a Master's degree.
  • Experience in one or more therapeutic areas and managing clinical trials at various stages of drug development is highly preferred.

The compensation for this position is competitive and considers various factors, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
