Position Overview

Objective of the Role

The primary goal of the Office 365 Systems Engineer is to support the Michigan Farm Bureau's family of companies in leveraging Office 365 for effective organizational and departmental communication, as well as for daily operational tools. This role is crucial in maximizing the utilization of Office 365 offerings while ensuring a secure and stable environment. Collaboration with business units and end-user support teams is essential to address inquiries, provide training, and relay application updates.



Key Responsibilities

Core Duties

Oversee and administer the Office 365 tenant, which encompasses Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive for Business, Microsoft Entra ID, and additional O365 services.

Conduct routine service evaluations, configurations, and optimizations to maintain platform stability and security.

Enforce document retention policies in alignment with organizational standards.

Monitor system performance and resolve issues to guarantee uninterrupted operation of the Office 365 ecosystem.

Provide tier 2/3 support for Office 365-related incidents and challenges.

Facilitate training sessions and develop documentation to empower users in effectively utilizing Office 365 tools and services, in partnership with tier 1 support and training teams.

Establish and manage security protocols and configurations to safeguard the Office 365 environment.

Ensure adherence to organizational policies, industry standards, and regulatory mandates.

Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify and mitigate potential risks.

Plan and execute migrations to Office 365 from on-premises or alternative cloud platforms.

Integrate Office 365 with other enterprise applications and systems as necessary.



Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in managing and supporting Microsoft Office 365 environments.

Comprehensive knowledge of Office 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, and associated applications.

Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for administrative and automation tasks.

Understanding of networking principles, security protocols, and compliance requirements pertinent to Office 365.

Preferred Qualifications

Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or equivalent certification is preferred.

Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate or equivalent certification is preferred.

Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate or equivalent certification is preferred.

Security certification, such as Security+, is preferred.

Experience with hybrid Office 365/on-premises environments is preferred.

Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Conditional Access, and other Azure services is preferred.

Knowledge of ITIL practices and methodologies is preferred.

Experience with third-party Office 365 tools and add-ons is preferred.

Note: This position offers a hybrid work model, combining remote work with occasional office presence.
