Job Overview

Objective:
The Senior Windows Infrastructure Engineer is tasked with delivering robust infrastructure support within a VMWare virtualized framework that accommodates a significant number of Microsoft Operating Systems. This role encompasses the management of numerous servers and a vast Active Directory user base across various locations. The Senior Engineer is accountable for upholding security protocols, backup solutions, and redundancy measures; ensuring optimal systems and infrastructure uptime; collaborating with vendors and IT staff for issue resolution; and developing custom scripts to enhance system efficiency while minimizing manual intervention.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversees large-scale and technically intricate projects, taking charge of the design and execution of innovative technology initiatives that bolster the Microsoft Active Directory and Server Operating System landscape.
  • Conducts thorough research, assessment, and recommendation of new technology initiatives, ensuring their stability and maintainability.
  • Manages project timelines effectively, providing regular status updates to management.
  • Acts as a Level-3 escalation point for applications and hardware supported by Windows Server.
  • Develops operational processes for daily administration of Windows Server environments, including various versions of Windows Server and SharePoint.
  • Proactively seeks opportunities to enhance and automate team workflows and system performance.
  • Engages in data mining and system interconnectivity to facilitate data normalization and automation.
  • Evaluates the performance of the infrastructure and offers recommendations for enhancements.
  • Utilizes PowerShell for environment management and automation purposes.
  • Represents the Windows Server team on cross-functional project teams.
  • Provides guidance and mentorship to junior team members in technical, customer service, and project management competencies.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Participates in a 24-hour on-call rotation.
  • Performs other assigned duties as necessary.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Proficient in Active Directory (Domain Services, GPO, security, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of Core Infrastructure Systems (Windows / VMware) and Virtualization/Hypervisor technologies.
  • Familiarity with Internal Certificate Authority.
  • Experience with Azure AD, including AD Connect server systems (SSO).
  • Knowledge of Network Policy Services (NPS), including wireless SSL.
  • Competence in File & Print Server Management.
  • Understanding of Key Management Service (KMS).
  • Experience in Physical Server Management, including firmware upgrades and vendor coordination for hardware issues.
  • Proficient in Server Deployment.
  • Ability to build, scale, and secure corporate infrastructure, particularly in virtual and cloud environments.
  • Active participation in shift handover calls, providing updates on pending tasks.
  • Experience working in diverse operating systems and applications environments.
  • Ability to leverage the complexity of large infrastructures to address Enterprise customer challenges.
  • Final escalation point for Windows server and virtualization-related issues.
  • Creates scalable, automated, and well-documented systems, training others for ongoing operations.
  • Designs and implements server systems and software applications, including Active Directory and NPS.
  • Manages DHCP server configurations, migrations, and decommissioning tasks.
  • Handles AD role management, migration, and DNS management.
  • Creates technical design specifications for enterprise server technologies.
  • Stays updated with industry trends to propose innovative technical solutions that align with business objectives.
  • Conducts performance troubleshooting, tuning, and root cause analysis of Windows OS issues.
  • Implements security standards and provides infrastructure data related to security incidents.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • Significant experience in a multi-server enterprise environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Visio.
Certifications
  • MCSE certification is required.
