The following outlines the general nature and level of work expected in this role. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all essential functions, duties, and skills required for this position. Management reserves the right to modify duties as necessary.
Position Summary:
The individual in this role will be responsible for conducting inspections of procured and/or internally manufactured components, materials, equipment, assemblies, and quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with established specifications. This includes interpreting technical drawings, diagrams, bills of materials (BOMs), and specifications to approve or reject components, test setups, or systems during both in-process and final assembly stages. The inspector will maintain necessary documentation and perform sampling and testing of incoming materials and assemblies. Performance data will be reviewed and reported, ensuring that raw materials, in-process items, and finished products adhere to company and testing standards. The inspector will also determine or assist in defining the methods and procedures necessary for effective inspection.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections of components to verify adherence to technical drawings, customer specifications, and quality standards.
- Utilize precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and relevant gauges.
- Possess knowledge of various materials used in manufacturing processes (e.g., aluminum, brass, copper).
- Understand tolerances as indicated on blueprint drawings.
- Be familiar with industry standards, including military specifications.
- Perform visual inspections for quality and compliance using magnification tools.
- Maintain accurate inspection logs and records.
Qualifications:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required, along with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or an Associate degree with 0-2 years of relevant experience.
- Effective communication skills to interact with departmental contacts regarding information that requires explanation or interpretation.
- Adhere to established processes to complete tasks and identify problems in straightforward situations, escalating issues to supervisors as needed.
- Work towards achieving operational goals within the job area, which may have a moderate impact on overall team results. Tasks are typically smaller and less structured.
