We are in search of a seasoned Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to become a vital part of our team. This position will spearhead enhancements in process capability, collaborating closely with Manufacturing, Materials, and Engineering teams to ensure that internal processes are adept at delivering products that meet customer expectations. The individual will also offer targeted support for daily production operations and guide the interpretation and analysis of technical data, including engineering drawings, specifications, and purchase orders. Responsibilities will include defining component quality requirements by evaluating gauging techniques and competencies, drafting quality plans, and aligning technical specifications with relevant departments. The role will ensure that root cause analyses and corrective actions are executed, while quality data is systematically tracked and reported.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance manufacturing process capabilities through variation reduction, error-proofing, and the application of statistical process control.
  • Gather and assess data to pinpoint and prioritize areas for product and process quality improvement.
  • Lead problem-solving teams to conduct root cause analyses and formulate corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Act as the primary quality representative on new product introduction teams, overseeing contract reviews and promoting design-for-quality initiatives.
  • Oversee major program manufacturing process qualifications.
  • Manage supplier quality and assist in supplier quality development efforts.
  • Conduct product reliability assessments.
  • Validate and address corrective and preventive action requests from both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Serve as a quality witness during the disassembly of customer-returned materials.
  • Engage in Material Review Board and Configuration Control Board activities.
  • Develop process flow diagrams and failure mode effects analysis reports.
  • Create statistically valid control plans for manufacturing processes.
  • Utilize lean and six sigma methodologies to drive down variation.
  • Conduct and participate in audits of quality systems, processes, and products.
  • Provide technical guidance to inspection team members.
  • Support product and process certifications and approvals.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Comply with military and contractual obligations.
  • Perform additional job-related tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

Skills and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing operations is essential.
  • Exemplary ethical standards; supports organizational goals and values; adapts to evolving conditions; demonstrates resilience and overcomes challenges.
  • Strong skills in business and technical writing, presentations, planning, problem-solving, organization, project management, and decision-making.
  • Familiarity with six sigma tools and methodologies; green belt or black belt certification is advantageous.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing practices to enhance product and process quality.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities focused on identifying and addressing root causes.
  • Proficient in problem-solving tools such as 5-Whys, failure mode and effects analysis, 8-D, Pareto analysis, fault tree analysis, Bayesian inference, and Ishikawa diagrams.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement statistically valid control and audit plans.
  • Working knowledge of inspection metrology and the appropriate use of automated measuring equipment.
  • Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Capability to create and review failure analysis reports and conduct dimensional tolerance stack-up analyses.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, and other relevant software.
  • Familiarity with applicable computer-based programs.
  • Thorough knowledge of statistical quality assurance methods and their applications.
  • Aptitude for defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
  • Experience with PPAP, Control Plans, FMEAs, and various problem-solving techniques.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Preferred experience in design, mechanical integrity, process control, project management, assembly, and machining.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a quality-related field. A Master's degree in Engineering is a plus.

Alternatively,

  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in quality systems and process quality within a manufacturing environment, with a focus on Supplier Quality Development. Experience in lean manufacturing in a high-mix, low-volume setting is preferred.

Other Requirements: Must be a US Person.

Compensation Range: $85K - $105K

Compensation may vary based on individual factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
