Position Summary:

The role involves conducting thorough inspections of procured and in-house manufactured components, materials, equipment, assemblies, and quality control programs to ensure adherence to specifications. The inspector interprets engineering drawings, diagrams, BOMs, specifications, and lists to either approve or reject units, test setups, or systems during both in-process and final assembly stages. The position requires maintaining accurate documentation and performing sampling and testing of incoming materials and assembly builds. Additionally, the inspector reviews and reports on performance metrics, ensuring that raw materials, in-process, and finished products comply with company and testing standards. The inspector will also determine or assist in defining the necessary methods and procedures for inspection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections of components to verify compliance with engineering drawings, customer specifications, and quality standards.
  • Utilize precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and relevant gauges.
  • Possess knowledge of various materials used in manufacturing processes (e.g., aluminum, brass, copper).
  • Understand tolerances specified in blueprint drawings.
  • Be familiar with industry standards, including Military Specifications.
  • Perform visual inspections for quality and compliance using a microscope.
  • Maintain accurate inspection logs and records.

Qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or an Associate degree with 0-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with departmental contacts regarding information that requires explanation or interpretation.
  • Follow established processes to complete tasks, identifying problems in straightforward situations and escalating issues to supervisors as needed.
  • Work towards achieving operational targets within the job area, which may have some impact on overall team results. Tasks are typically smaller and less structured.
