Position Summary:
The role involves conducting inspections of both externally sourced and internally manufactured components, materials, equipment, assemblies, and quality control programs to ensure adherence to specifications. This includes interpreting engineering drawings, diagrams, bills of materials, and specifications to either approve or reject units, test setups, or systems during both in-process and final assembly stages. The inspector is responsible for maintaining supporting documentation and performing sampling and testing of incoming materials and assembly builds. Performance data is reviewed and reported to ensure compliance with company and testing standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections of components to verify compliance with engineering drawings, customer specifications, and quality standards.
- Utilize precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and other relevant gauges.
- Possess knowledge of various materials used in manufacturing processes (e.g., aluminum, brass, copper).
- Understand tolerances as indicated on technical drawings.
- Familiarity with industry standards, including military specifications.
- Perform visual inspections for quality and compliance using magnification tools.
- Maintain detailed inspection logs and records.
Qualifications:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or an Associate degree with 0-2 years of experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively with departmental contacts regarding information that requires explanation or interpretation.
- Follow established procedures to complete tasks, identifying and escalating issues to supervisors as necessary.
- Work towards achieving operational targets within the job area, which may have some impact on overall team results. Tasks are typically limited in scope and may involve smaller, less structured activities.
