About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Oncology Veterinary Technician to join our team in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality cancer care to canine and feline patients.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical assistance to veterinary medical or research staff in delivering cancer care, including medicine, surgery, and radiology to patient-owned animals.
  • Work under minimal supervision to advance the purpose of enhancing the quality of life for companion animals and furthering cancer research in humans.
  • Support radiation and chemotherapy treatments, administer and oversee anesthesia and analgesia, and perform minor surgical procedures.
  • Assist with diagnostic imaging procedures, obtain vital signs, collect samples, and meticulously document patient visits electronically.
  • Educate and support pet owners in understanding and managing their pet's cancer diagnosis.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent, and five years' experience working with animals in a clinical or research setting.
  • Completion of a veterinary technology program or equivalent.
  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician preferred.
