Key Responsibilities:
The Advanced Pharmacy Technician will perform a variety of essential tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Compounding and admixing medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Ensuring all medication orders are complete and accurate.
  • Verifying patient information and obtaining necessary physician authorizations.
  • Checking insurance approvals prior to medication preparation.
  • Accurately preparing medications according to established guidelines.
  • Maintaining accurate records of controlled substances and conducting weekly inventory checks.
  • Cleaning and maintaining pharmacy equipment in accordance with policy.
  • Managing inventory control, including ordering and shelving medications.
  • Preparing labels and handling billing processes.
  • Providing guidance to junior pharmacy staff as needed.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Level 1: High School diploma or equivalent with up to three years of pharmacy experience.
  • Level 2: Three to five years of pharmacy experience, including I.V. skills, with IV certification preferred.
  • Senior Level: Five to seven years of pharmacy experience with extensive I.V. preparation experience, preferably in oncology.

Physical and Work Environment:
This position requires a full range of motion, manual dexterity, and the ability to stand or sit for extended periods. The work environment may involve exposure to patients and potentially hazardous substances.
