Summary

The Senior Marketing Coordinator plays a pivotal role in leading the execution of marketing initiatives, outreach efforts, and promotional activities for CATS. Under the guidance of the CATS Marketing Manager, this position is tasked with the development and coordination of marketing strategies, promotions, special events, and public information programs. Responsibilities include representing CATS at various external events, delivering presentations to diverse audiences, analyzing and reporting data, and providing oversight to team members on various projects. Collaboration with other departments to enhance CATS' visibility in the community is also essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulates, designs, coordinates, and executes comprehensive marketing and promotional strategies by establishing objectives, managing electronic and print materials, consulting with departments, and evaluating outcomes.
  • Provides support in promoting CATS ridership and engaging with customers effectively.
  • Aids in the creation, preparation, and execution of advertising campaigns across multiple media platforms, including print, radio, television, and direct mail, ensuring continuous improvement through pre- and post-evaluations.
  • Involved in the development and coordination of campaigns to convey messages regarding courtesy, system enhancements, fare collection, new services, and job recruitment.
  • Manages brochures, publications, and other marketing materials, ensuring a cohesive visual identity and overseeing graphic development and production.
  • Maintains the District's graphic manual and style guide for all internal and passenger communications.
  • Updates CATS maps and schedule display signage, coordinating the development and production of these materials.
  • Addresses marketing inquiries from businesses, government entities, and the public, while coordinating joint marketing efforts with existing CATS campaigns.
  • Organizes special events and outreach initiatives by assessing goals, crafting plans, coordinating logistics, and making informed recommendations.
  • Develops collaborative campaigns and partnerships with local attractions to boost CATS ridership during off-peak hours, maintaining records of trade and managing relationship marketing programs.
  • Participates in the budgeting process for the marketing program, submitting recommendations and monitoring expenditures.
  • Prepares analytical reports on operations and activities.
  • Provides professional assistance to district departments on marketing-related matters.
  • Represents CATS in discussions with governmental agencies, professional organizations, and the public.

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Flexibility to work outside of standard business hours as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Education

Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Marketing, Advertising, or a related field.

Experience

A minimum of five years of experience in Marketing with a proven track record of successful campaign development and execution is required.

Conditions of Employment

The City's Background Check Policy mandates that background checks be conducted on final candidates applying for any position with the City of Charlotte. This process includes reference checks, social security verification, education verification, and criminal conviction record checks, among others.

Background checks must comply with federal and state regulations, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Candidates must provide written authorization for background checks, and information derived from such reports must be stored and disposed of appropriately.

Final candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical examination. During the selection process, candidates may be asked to complete skills assessments and other evaluations.
