Lead Communication Systems Engineer

In this role, you will collaborate closely with the technical and strategic teams at CesiumAstro to prioritize and develop innovative algorithms, technologies, and methodologies aimed at addressing cutting-edge challenges in wireless communications. Your focus will be on research, analysis, development, and testing of satellite systems.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate effective communication with team members and internal stakeholders, and will actively participate in content creation. Therefore, exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Qualifications and Requirements
- BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering.
- A minimum of 6 years of research and development experience in space communications.
- Strong expertise in digital signal processing, statistics, linear algebra, communication theory, machine learning, and L1/L2 algorithms.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting and one programming language (preferably Python & C++) along with relevant software development practices (requirement definition, version control, code review, issue tracking, etc.).
- In-depth understanding of RF concepts, impairments, and their impact on baseband processing.
- Experience with FPGA and modern vector processing engines.
- Familiarity with satellite communications standards (NR NTN, DVB-S2x, CCSDS).
- Ability to conduct independent research and work collaboratively within a team.
- A desire to transform research ideas into prototype solutions.
- Capability to obtain a security clearance.
- Outstanding written and verbal technical communication skills.
- Willingness to undertake additional job-related tasks as assigned by management.
- Ability to define work direction, monitor milestones, and demonstrate progress on large, open-ended projects.
- A sense of urgency and the ability to perform well under pressure.
- Strong teamwork skills, collaborating effectively with peers and management.
