The Communication Technologies and Engineering Division (CTED) encompasses the fields of communications, networking, and PNT (Position, Navigation, and Timing) in support of space missions, alongside their enabling technologies. Within this domain, CTED projects cover all aspects, from architectural design to prototype development and implementation, blending theoretical insights with practical applications. Our engineers collaborate directly with corporate and U.S. Government clients to ensure the establishment of robust and resilient communication systems.
Within CTED, the Communication Systems Engineering Department (CSED) conducts analysis, modeling, simulation, and laboratory activities aimed at designing and assessing communication systems, signals, and signal processing algorithms for our clients. As an engineer in CSED, you will tackle intricate technical challenges in communication, counter-communication, and related digital signal processing areas. Your expertise will be instrumental in supporting various U.S. Government military and national program requirements while influencing their future directions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently manage and/or spearhead projects involving:
- Physical layer modeling and simulation
- Design and performance evaluation of communication waveforms
- Analysis and design of position, navigation, and timing signals
- Communication link budget assessments
- Evaluation of existing and future programs across various technical domains, including satellite communications, signal intelligence (SIGINT), and electronic warfare (EW)
- Development and assessment of program requirements, interfaces, and verification processes
- Creation of digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms
- Deliver actionable technical solutions to the nation’s most pressing challenges
- Transform abstract concepts into concrete, well-structured technical plans
- Effectively communicate technical findings through written reports and presentations.
Work Model: This position necessitates a minimum of four days on-site.
Qualifications for Success:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or a related technical field
- Eight or more years of relevant engineering experience with progressive responsibility
- Experience with RF satellite communication systems, including hardware and software, systems engineering, RF system design requirements development, integration and testing, or related fields
- Comprehension of various communication systems and digital signal processing principles (e.g., modulation, coding, synchronization, estimation, detection theory, waveform design, channel effects, and link performance)
- Proficiency in one of the following programming languages: MATLAB, Python, C/C++
- A current and active TS/SCI security clearance issued by the U.S. government; U.S. citizenship is required
- This role typically involves 10% domestic travel, with potential increases (up to 35%) to meet specific client needs.
Additionally, the minimum qualifications for the Senior Engineering Specialist role include:
- Twelve or more years of relevant experience in communications systems engineering and/or signal processing
- Demonstrated experience in technical leadership roles
Preferred Qualifications:
It would be advantageous if you possess one or more of the following:
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited institution
- Experience with military and commercial satellite communication systems
- Familiarity with U.S. government programs related to protected communications, navigation, signal intelligence (SIGINT), and/or electronic warfare (EW)
- Hands-on experience in modeling and simulating anti-jam waveforms, spread spectrum, beamforming, array processing, interference mitigation, and geolocation techniques
- Knowledge of contemporary software development practices and tools
- In-depth understanding of emerging communication and network technologies (5G, 6G, IoT, IoST)
- Current SAP access
