Position Overview:

Woven by Toyota, a pioneering mobility technology subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation, is on a mission to enhance human-centered mobility globally. We are seeking a Legal Counsel for UK and US operations to support our dynamic legal team.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal guidance on compliance matters related to autonomous vehicle regulations and safety standards.
  • Assist in trade compliance initiatives to facilitate US and UK import/export activities.
  • Support the Benefits team regarding employee benefits for our workforce in the US and UK.
  • Collaborate with the Legal team on HR-related legal issues in both regions.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate legal risks.
  • Engage in corporate governance tasks to support legal operations across the US, UK, and Japan.
  • Address general legal matters and contribute to the development of innovative solutions within a high-performing legal team.
  • Draft and negotiate various legal documents to safeguard the company's interests.
  • Advise on corporate matters, including legal entities and intercompany agreements.
  • Provide strategic legal counsel across jurisdictions to the Head of Legal and business units.
  • Monitor and advise on emerging legal and regulatory challenges.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external parties, including regulators and external counsel.

Qualifications:

  • 4-7 years of relevant legal experience in both corporate in-house settings and law firms.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Strong negotiation skills and excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience managing external legal counsel.
  • Ability to navigate multiple legal disciplines to support business objectives.
  • Proficient in adapting to changing priorities and managing ambiguity.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Experience collaborating with global legal teams across various disciplines.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment and decision-making skills with a focus on broader business outcomes.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships and maintain a sense of urgency while respecting others.
  • A positive attitude, flexibility, and creativity in achieving legal compliance while meeting business goals.
