Role Summary:

We are in search of a Legal Counsel for UK and US, who will report directly to the Head of Legal for these regions. This role is pivotal in supporting our legal team and the business in navigating various in-house legal matters. The ideal candidate will possess a strategic mindset and emotional intelligence, with 4-7 years of legal expertise to bolster our legal operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal guidance on compliance issues related to autonomous vehicle regulations and safety standards.
  • Assist in trade compliance efforts for import and export activities between the US and UK.
  • Collaborate with the Benefits team to address employee benefits for staff in both regions.
  • Support HR-related legal matters across the US and UK.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate legal risks.
  • Engage in corporate governance tasks to support legal operations in the US, UK, and Japan.
  • Address general legal inquiries and devise innovative solutions as part of a cohesive in-house legal team.
  • Draft and negotiate contracts and legal documents to safeguard the company's interests.
  • Advise on corporate matters, including legal entities and intercompany agreements.
  • Provide strategic legal counsel across jurisdictions to support the Head of Legal and business operations.
  • Identify and advise on emerging legal and regulatory challenges.
  • Foster relationships with external parties, including regulators and legal counsel.

Qualifications:

  • 4-7 years of relevant legal experience in a corporate legal department and a US law firm.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Exceptional negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience in managing external legal counsel.
  • Ability to navigate multiple legal disciplines to support business needs.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and comfort with ambiguity.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with strong time management capabilities.
  • Experience collaborating with global legal teams.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills with a focus on strategic outcomes.
  • Capacity to build trusted relationships and maintain a sense of urgency.
  • A positive attitude, flexibility, and creativity in achieving legal compliance.
