Who We Are Seeking:

We are in search of a Legal Counsel specializing in both the US and UK legal frameworks. This role will report directly to the Head of Legal for these regions and will be an integral part of a collaborative legal team. The ideal candidate will possess 4-7 years of legal expertise and will be instrumental in providing strategic, risk-based legal guidance to support our dynamic business operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in navigating legal matters associated with compliance for autonomous vehicle regulations and safety standards.
  • Engage in trade compliance initiatives to facilitate US and UK import/export activities.
  • Collaborate with the Benefits team to address employee benefits for personnel in both regions.
  • Support HR-related legal matters, ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate legal risks.
  • Participate in corporate governance tasks to support legal operations across the US, UK, and Japan.
  • Provide legal counsel on a variety of matters, crafting innovative solutions within a high-performing legal team.
  • Draft and negotiate contracts and legal documents to safeguard the company’s interests.
  • Advise on corporate governance issues, including legal entities and intercompany agreements.
  • Deliver strategic legal advice across jurisdictions to support the Head of Legal and business operations.
  • Monitor and advise on emerging legal and regulatory challenges.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including regulators and legal advisors.

Qualifications:

  • 4-7 years of relevant legal experience, including corporate in-house and law firm settings.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited institution.
  • Exceptional negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience in managing external legal counsel.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving priorities and navigate ambiguity effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Experience collaborating with global legal teams across various disciplines.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a cohesive team.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to cultivate trusted relationships while maintaining a sense of urgency and respect.
  • A positive attitude, flexibility, and creativity in achieving business objectives while ensuring legal compliance.
