This position reports to the Deputy General Counsel for Research and Medicine and focuses on delivering legal guidance to the Research Management Group within the School of Medicine. The attorney will engage with faculty and staff, offering insights and support across the organization.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing legal counsel on federal grants and assisting in the drafting and negotiation of research agreements.
  • Collaborating with Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) and advising on non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) and service agreements.
  • Interpreting federal and state privacy laws and data security regulations.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to navigate complex legal landscapes while managing multiple priorities in a dynamic research environment. Essential qualities include:

  • A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of 6 years of relevant legal experience.
  • Membership in the California Bar or eligibility for membership.
  • Strong academic credentials, exceptional writing, analytical, and communication skills.
  • A commitment to teamwork, responsiveness, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality legal services.
