Position Overview:

Woven by Toyota is seeking a Legal Counsel focused on UK and US operations to support our dynamic legal team. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with legal standards while fostering innovation in mobility technology.

As a subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation, Woven by Toyota is dedicated to advancing human-centered mobility. Our initiatives include the Arene mobility software platform and the innovative Toyota Woven City, which serves as a testing ground for cutting-edge mobility solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal support for compliance activities related to autonomous vehicle regulations and safety standards.
  • Assist in trade compliance matters, including import and export policies for the UK and US.
  • Collaborate with the Benefits team to address employee benefits for UK and US staff.
  • Support HR-related legal matters across both regions.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate legal risks.
  • Engage in corporate governance activities to align with legal requirements in the UK, US, and Japan.
  • Draft and negotiate various legal documents to safeguard the company's interests.
  • Advise on corporate matters, including intercompany arrangements.
  • Provide strategic legal counsel across jurisdictions as needed.
  • Identify and advise on emerging legal and regulatory challenges.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external parties, including regulators and legal counsel.

Qualifications:

  • 4-7 years of relevant legal experience in a corporate in-house setting and a law firm.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited institution.
  • Strong negotiation, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience managing external legal counsel.
  • Ability to navigate multiple legal disciplines to support business objectives.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Experience collaborating with global legal teams.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to cultivate trusted relationships and maintain a sense of urgency.
  • A positive attitude, flexibility, and creativity in achieving legal compliance.
