About the Department:

The Community Business Partnership (CBP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering the growth of small enterprises in Northern Virginia and nearby regions. CBP offers accessible financial resources to underserved micro and small business owners within its designated lending area.

As a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) recognized by the U.S. Department of Treasury's CDFI Fund, CBP focuses on financial services for communities lacking traditional banking support. Additionally, CBP is an approved intermediary microlender for the U.S. Small Business Administration and a lending provider for the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development. The organization's lending activities are managed through its Business Finance Center (BFC).

CBP is affiliated with the Mason Enterprise Center at George Mason University, providing clients with access to various business development services, including training, personalized counseling, and incubation opportunities.

About the Position:

The organization is in search of a Lending Administrative Specialist to enhance the operations of the Business Finance Center (BFC) and support the growing lending initiatives. The ideal candidate will play a key role in refining the engagement process for applicants and borrowers as part of the lending team.

This role reports directly to the leadership of the Business Finance Center at the Community Business Partnership. The Lending Administrative Specialist will collaborate with other CBP programs and staff to achieve the overall objectives of the organization and address the needs of the low-income, socially disadvantaged communities served.

This is a part-time position (maximum of 29 hours per week).

Responsibilities:

The Lending Administrative Specialist will carry out tasks as directed by the BFC leadership, authorized by CBP management, and in compliance with the organization's lending policies and relevant funding source requirements.

  • Manage and support the monthly/bi-monthly loan billing processes;
  • Assist BFC leadership in monitoring and managing the delinquent loan portfolio;
  • Process delinquency notifications and communicate with borrowers in default;
  • Provide guidance and assistance to loan prospects and new applicants during the pre-application and application phases;
  • Aid in loan origination in line with established loan funds, policies, and procedures;
  • Assist in preparing approved loan funding packages and liaise with qualified borrowers;
  • Maintain funding databases;
  • Ensure compliance with all organizational and loan policies and procedures;
  • Support reporting requirements as outlined in contracts and grant agreements;
  • Perform data entry as required for each job function;
  • Communicate effectively and in a timely manner;
  • Execute other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

The Lending Administrative Specialist role requires experience in loan underwriting procedures and a solid understanding of small business operations.

  • Minimum of two years of experience in loan underwriting or support;
  • At least two years of experience in administrative office support;
  • Knowledge of funding principles, methods, and resources;
  • Proficiency in MS Office and experience with lending software/applications;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills;
  • Capability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing circumstances;
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines;
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining professional relationships with diverse individuals;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Team-oriented with flexibility to meet organizational needs.

Must be able to pass a background check to work on federal lending programs.
