Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Medical Officer to lead our medical staff and provide strategic direction for our healthcare services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in clinical leadership, quality improvement, and physician relations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advocate for patients, physicians, and clinical staff, identifying and developing emerging physician leaders.
  • Monitor, measure, and improve clinical care using evidence-based best practices to ensure patient safety and quality improvement.
  • Provide leadership to management teams, overseeing quality and safety, utilization review, peer review and credentialing, growth and strategic planning, population health, and managed care.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies and initiatives, including quality improvement, patient safety, performance improvement, and physician recruitment.
  • Oversee operations, budget, financial targets, and human resources management.
  • Assist in evaluating new clinical business line opportunities and implementing new clinical initiatives and business plans.
  • Direct and oversee the process for counseling and managing issues of physician professional conduct.
  • Lead the development of continuing medical education (CME) and other relevant education programs for medical staff.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff to provide necessary clinical support services to facilities and medical staff.
  • Ensure licensing and other governmental and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Monitor major issues and trends in the practice of medicine and provide health policy advice to medical staff and executive leadership.
Requirements
  • Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Kansas Board of Healing Arts.
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
  • 10 years of experience required, with 15 years of experience preferred.
  • 5 years of leadership or management experience preferred.

  • An appreciation of the challenges and opportunities associated with delivering comprehensive services within a multi-site and growing regional health system.
  • A management style that communicates a sense of quality, equality, and inclusiveness, with a sensitivity to the issue of diversity and a commitment to developing a mindset and culture that reflects the value of difference.
  • A proven ability as a skilled change agent with sensitivity to the interpersonal, organizational, political, perceptual, fiscal, and environmental issues that accompany an organizational change process.
