OVERVIEW:
The Fiscal Services Coordinator plays a crucial role in assisting the Treasurer/CFO with the oversight, development, and enhancement of the financial operations within the school district. This includes managing state and federal compliance reporting and supervising departmental staff in their daily responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related discipline. A CPA designation is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates must have 3-5 years of experience in governmental accounting or auditing, along with proficiency in automated data processing systems. Experience in a supervisory role is essential to effectively manage daily operations and administrative functions.

Strong interpersonal skills are necessary to foster collaborative relationships with colleagues and to work effectively as part of a cohesive team focused on customer service. A commitment to continuous professional development is required, along with the ability to follow complex instructions and independently identify and rectify errors. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Proficiency in computer applications, particularly financial accounting systems, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite, is essential.

Analytical skills and mathematical proficiency are necessary for executing various accounting and payroll tasks and resolving discrepancies. The ability to provide guidance, training, and oversight of departmental staff is crucial. Candidates must possess the mental acuity to manage pressure related to deadlines and tasks requiring precision and attention to detail.

Knowledge of state and local funding issues, as well as the ability to interpret and implement relevant laws pertaining to public education, is vital. A commitment to innovative problem-solving and maintaining high standards of accountability and efficiency is expected. Experience in managing banking relations and investments, as well as developing and communicating office procedures and internal controls, is preferred. Knowledge of fiscal responsibilities associated with state and federal grants is also important.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Utilizes independent judgment to manage job functions effectively. Assembles and analyzes data for forecasting purposes. Ensures the accuracy of data for proper interpretation. Facilitates collaboration with auditors and serves as the primary contact during audits. Provides cross-training for payroll and other office staff as needed. Monitors cash flow and manages transfers between bank accounts. Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal grant funding, including project cash requests and annual reporting. Assists the Treasurer/CFO in preparing and overseeing annual budgets and resource estimations. Manages compliance of all district accounts within the accounting framework. Provides financial support to school buildings and departments as needed. Participates in and oversees the preparation of various financial reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Supervises the functions of the Treasurer's Office, including staff and workflow management.

Recommends hiring, transferring, suspending, or promoting employees under supervision, and addresses grievances responsibly. Participates in the preparation of monthly and yearly closing procedures and reconciles general ledger accounts. Oversees the maintenance of accurate accounting records and files. Authorizes purchase orders in accordance with established policies. Conducts necessary research to resolve discrepancies. Engages in policy development and implementation. Interprets rules, regulations, policies, and labor contracts. Formulates and directs the implementation of board policies related to financial operations. Assists with salary negotiations and cost analysis. Trains and advises staff on policies, procedures, and technological enhancements as needed. Maintains open communication with various departments to resolve issues and share information. Performs additional duties as assigned by the Treasurer/CFO.
