Amazon is on the lookout for a Financial Analyst to enhance the Books finance team, focusing on Demand Finance and Goodreads. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset, demonstrating the ability to influence senior business leaders through effective communication, financial analysis, and logical reasoning. Key Responsibilities

  1. Formulate long-term and annual financial projections, delivering precise variance analyses, and presenting insights to senior Finance and business leadership teams.
  2. Collaborate closely with business units to develop financial models that encompass new business ventures and cash flow enhancement initiatives.
  3. Engage with a diverse range of stakeholders for planning and reporting purposes.
  4. Conduct specialized analyses to facilitate critical business decisions.
  5. Generate financial forecasts and variance analyses for presentation to senior management.
  6. Perform in-depth examinations to comprehend business processes and their financial implications.
  7. Assume full P&L responsibility for Goodreads: Execute and manage core financial processes and reporting for the business, including Annual Operating Plans, Long-Term Plans, and Monthly/Quarterly Business Reviews.
About the Team
The Demand function plays a crucial role in supporting Kindle Content's revenue forecasting process, utilizing various complex forecasting methodologies to establish revenue expectations over both short and long-term horizons. This position holds direct accountability for traditional trend-based financial models and necessitates ongoing collaboration with Business Intelligence and Machine Learning experts who are developing advanced revenue forecasting techniques. The insights derived from your analyses will inform decision-making at all organizational levels, with Kindle Content leadership relying on your expertise regarding future revenue expectations. In addition to the topline forecasting process, this role also aids Kindle Content's Demand Product Managers through financial analysis that contributes to the design of innovative products aimed at enhancing customer satisfaction.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

3+ years of experience in tax, finance, or a related analytical field.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical discipline (e.g., engineering, mathematics, computer science).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

MBA or CPA preferred.
- Familiarity with Tableau.
- 4+ years of experience in continuous improvement initiatives within your team to enhance controllership with measurable outcomes.
- Experience with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards).
