Amazon is on the lookout for a Financial Analyst to enhance the finance team dedicated to Books, focusing on Demand Finance and Goodreads. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset, showcasing the ability to influence senior business leaders through effective communication, financial insights, and logical reasoning. Key Responsibilities

  1. Formulate long-term and annual financial projections, delivering precise variance analyses and presenting findings to senior Finance and business leadership teams.
  2. Collaborate closely with business units to develop financial models for various initiatives, from new business ventures to cash flow enhancement strategies.
  3. Engage with a diverse range of stakeholders for comprehensive planning and reporting.
  4. Conduct targeted analyses to inform critical business decisions.
  5. Generate financial forecasts and variance reports for presentation to senior management.
  6. Perform in-depth analyses to comprehend business processes and their financial implications.
  7. Assume full P&L responsibility for Goodreads: Establish and manage essential financial processes and reporting for the business, including Annual Operating Plans, Long-Term Plans, and Monthly/Quarterly Business Reviews.
About the Team
The Demand function is integral to Kindle Content's revenue forecasting, utilizing various sophisticated forecasting methodologies to refine revenue expectations over both short and long-term horizons. This position entails direct management of traditional trend-based financial models and necessitates ongoing collaboration with Business Intelligence and Machine Learning experts who are developing advanced revenue forecasting tools. The insights derived from your analyses will significantly influence decision-making across all business levels, positioning you as the go-to expert for future revenue projections. Additionally, this role supports Kindle Content's Demand Product Managers by providing financial analyses that contribute to the creation of innovative products aimed at enhancing customer satisfaction.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

3+ years of experience in tax, finance, or a related analytical field.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical discipline (e.g., engineering, mathematics, computer science).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

MBA or CPA preferred.
- Familiarity with Tableau.
- 4+ years of involvement in continuous improvement initiatives within your team to enhance controllership with measurable outcomes.
- Experience with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards).
