Overview

As a vital member of our team, the role of a Patient Access Representative goes beyond mere tasks; it is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact. In this position, you will serve as the initial point of contact for patients, ensuring a seamless experience as they navigate the healthcare system. Your attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality are essential, as the information you collect plays a crucial role in patient care, electronic medical records, and billing processes.

Your Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Welcome patients, families, and visitors both over the phone and in person, facilitating appointment scheduling with the appropriate healthcare providers.
  • Assess patient information to establish or update accounts for all individuals seeking services, including walk-ins and emergency cases.
  • Accurately register patients by inputting demographic and insurance details, while correcting any discrepancies.
  • Coordinate bed placements and transfers based on clinical requests.
  • Guide patients through their financial responsibilities, assisting with payment arrangements and financial assistance applications.
  • Ensure the completion of registration and admission processes, verifying that all necessary documentation is collected and accurate.
  • Collect and validate patient information, ensuring compliance with all required consents and documentation.
  • Conduct insurance verifications to confirm active coverage and notify insurance companies of admissions in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with case management and clinical providers to ensure appropriate service placements.
  • Inform patients about their financial obligations, including prior balances, and facilitate payment collection when possible.
  • Provide directions to various facilities within the healthcare setting, ensuring patients feel supported and informed.
  • Manage appointment scheduling and rescheduling, educating patients about available service options.

Qualifications

Essential:
  • High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in customer service or healthcare settings.

Work Schedule:

Evening shifts are available.
