As a Healthcare Access Coordinator, you play a crucial administrative role, often serving as the initial point of contact for patients. Your contributions are essential to the well-being of every individual we serve at LCMC Health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients, guests, and family members both via phone and in person, ensuring they are scheduled for services with the appropriate provider, location, and time.
- Assess existing patient information to establish or update accounts for all individuals seeking services, including walk-ins and emergency cases.
- Register patients by accurately entering demographic, financial, and insurance details while correcting any discrepancies.
- Facilitate bed placements, reservations, transfers, and discharges as requested by clinical providers and case management.
- Assist patients in understanding their financial responsibilities, setting up payment plans, and completing financial assistance applications.
- Oversee the registration and admissions process, ensuring all necessary forms are completed and documentation is accurate.
- Verify insurance coverage by conducting automated eligibility checks at the point of service.
- Communicate with case management and providers to ensure appropriate department placements for clinical services.
- Inform patients and guarantors of any financial liabilities, including prior balances, and collect payments when possible.
- Maximize point-of-service collections by meeting established registration goals.
- Guide patients to relevant areas, such as service departments, financial counseling, and waiting areas.
- Schedule and reschedule patient appointments, providing information on available service options.
Qualifications:
Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience, along with two years of relevant customer service or healthcare experience.
