As the first and largest verified burn center in Michigan, we are one of only 43 in the nation.
Additionally, we offer the state's leading 24/7 hyperbaric oxygen program, Metro Detroit's inaugural certified primary stroke center, and the esteemed DMC Rosa Parks Geriatric Center of Excellence.
Position OverviewReporting to the nursing leadership at the hospital, the Manager of Patient Services is responsible for overseeing a significant function or multiple smaller services that provide essential business support to nursing operations.
This role may also encompass management of multiple nursing units, with direct reports to a Director or Executive Director at the site.
The scope of this position is medium, with less than 50 FTE direct or indirect reports across various nursing units, or with accountability for a major nursing operational support function.
Key Responsibilities- Manage patient care accountability, planning, implementation, and evaluation of processes related to performance improvement, staffing efficiency, fiscal management, and customer service outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and communicate these requirements effectively.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to strategize and assess activities aligned with departmental and hospital objectives.
- Exemplify excellence in customer service.
- Identify the need for policy development or revision within the department and work with higher management to define these policies.
- Oversee the creation and revision of departmental procedures and protocols, securing necessary approvals.
- Initiate personnel actions such as hiring, disciplinary actions, and performance evaluations.
- Develop and monitor departmental budgets and performance metrics.
Compliance Statement: Uphold the standards set forth in DMC's Code of Conduct, fostering a commitment to legal and ethical practices, and implementing audit recommendations as directed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Michigan.
- A minimum of three years of progressive nursing experience is required.
This position is integral to maintaining the high standards of care at DMC Receiving Hospital.
