Job Description

Position: Land Surveyor Trainee

Location: Houston, TX

Salary: $55,000 - $70,000

Overview: HFW Companies is in search of a dedicated and detail-oriented Land Surveyor Trainee who will significantly contribute to our land surveying and property research initiatives. In this role, you will be responsible for interpreting legal documents, plats, and other property-related information to extract pertinent data. Your tasks will include gathering necessary documentation from various sources and creating boundary sketches utilizing AutoCAD software.

Collaboration: You will work closely with a Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) to perform boundary research and analysis, as well as assist in the preparation of boundary maps and metes and bounds descriptions for diverse sites and streets. This position demands a strong attention to detail, proficiency in AutoCAD, and a solid grasp of land surveying principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret deeds, plats, and other property-related documents.
  • Retrieve necessary documents from various sources, including government offices and independent abstractors.
  • Create boundary sketches based on deeds and plats using AutoCAD.
  • Assist the RPLS with boundary research and analysis.
  • Support the RPLS in managing daily survey field crews and processing field data.
  • Prepare boundary maps and metes and bounds descriptions under the supervision of a Registered Surveyor.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or four-year college degree.
  • Basic knowledge and experience with AutoCAD.
  • SIT Certification is preferred but not mandatory.
