About the Role

Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Facilities Leader to join its Campus Services Division. As a key member of the RISD community, this individual will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and sustainable campus environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilities Management and Building Operations: Develop, implement, and revise building maintenance services policies and programs to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.
  • Deferred Maintenance Program: Prepare, prioritize, and manage the College's deferred maintenance program, working closely with internal partners and external consultants.
  • Energy Conservation and Sustainability: Develop recommendations for building and facilities modifications to enhance energy conservation, and work with community members to implement conservation measures.
  • Budget Oversight: Oversee and develop the annual preparation and submission of departmental and deferred maintenance budgets, managing budgets within established parameters.
  • Staff Oversight: Hire, train, develop, and evaluate staff, setting and aligning departmental and staff goals with those of the college.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Building Sciences, Architecture, Engineering, Facilities Management, Operations Management, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Experience: Ten (10) years of facilities operations experience, preferably in a higher education setting, and five (5) years of direct supervisory experience.
  • Skills: Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, commitment to diversity and inclusion, and experience with Microsoft Office, particularly database applications, word processing, and spreadsheets.
