Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Water Utility Director to join our team at the City of Philadelphia. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for directing the operations of our water treatment plant systems and ensuring that treatment processes comply with legal and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct the operations of water treatment plant systems and ensure compliance with legal and environmental standards.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve water quality and treatment processes.
  • Manage and supervise a team of engineers and technicians to ensure efficient and effective operation of the water treatment plant.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure that water treatment operations are aligned with the City's overall goals and objectives.
  • Develop and manage budgets and resources to ensure effective and efficient operation of the water treatment plant.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Sanitary, Environmental, Civil, Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Five years of experience in water or wastewater treatment plant operation.
  • Two years of experience as a Water Utility Manager directing plant operations and maintenance.
  • OR Two years of experience directing water or wastewater treatment plant operations and maintenance at a treatment facility serving a population of more than 150,000.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Sanitary, Environmental, Civil, Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with water treatment plant operations and maintenance.
  • Experience with budgeting and resource management.
