Position Overview

The Monell Chemical Senses Center, a prestigious non-profit research organization at the forefront of sensory science, is on the lookout for a dynamic and strategic Senior Director of Donor Relations. This role is pivotal in steering the organization towards sustainable growth and enhancing its philanthropic initiatives to amplify its influence on global health.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director and President, the Senior Director will collaborate closely with the executive leadership team, governing board, faculty, and staff to articulate and advance the organization's mission and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Development: Formulate and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with the organization’s vision and financial aspirations.
  • Major Gifts Program: Identify and cultivate relationships with high-net-worth individuals, corporations, and foundations to secure significant contributions.
  • Donor Stewardship: Enhance and maintain relationships with existing donors to increase their engagement and support through various communication channels.
  • Campaign Management: Oversee preparations for capital and endowment campaigns, ensuring that financial targets are met.
  • Board Engagement: Provide development reports and support the board in their fundraising endeavors.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage the development department's budget and monitor fundraising expenditures to ensure efficient operations.
  • Marketing Collaboration: Work with the marketing team to create compelling fundraising materials and enhance the organization’s visibility.
  • Data Management: Utilize donor management systems to track fundraising activities and report on progress.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field; a master's degree or CFRE certification is preferred.
  • Extensive experience in fundraising, particularly in major gifts, with a proven track record of success.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and manage a diverse team.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with proficiency in crafting persuasive fundraising materials.
  • High ethical standards and a commitment to best practices in fundraising.
