Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Officer IV to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a comprehensive employee health and environmental safety program, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards, and providing guidance and training to staff members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide training and education to staff members on safety procedures and protocols.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, and develop recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
  • Develop and maintain safety budgets and inventory management systems.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as occupational health and safety, environmental health, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety-related role, preferably in a laboratory or healthcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards, including OSHA and EPA requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff members at all levels.
  • Ability to analyze complex information and develop effective solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Certification in a safety-related field, such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
  • Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and other safety-related software.
