Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Officer IV to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a senior-level security professional, you will be responsible for providing high-level security services, including patrolling hospital grounds, conducting investigations, and providing direction and assistance to patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol hospital grounds to monitor and mitigate unusual occurrences, such as trespassers, vandalism, and emergencies.
  • Monitor and direct daily activities and work performance of junior security officers as needed.
  • Provide security to the hospital campus, including opening gates and providing direction and assistance to visitors.
  • Write reports and documents incidents or events in and around the hospital grounds.
  • Perform temporary switchboard duties as requested, including answering phone calls and responding to emergency situations.
  • Investigate and document unusual incidents, such as thefts, fire, vehicle accidents, unauthorized departures, and weather-related events.
  • Represent the security department in meetings and events as directed by the Security Supervisor or Directors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including participating in disaster response and recovery efforts or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of alarm devices, traffic and parking regulations, and emergency response procedures.
  • Skills in personal interaction with patients, staff, and the public, as well as written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs.
  • Ability to patrol grounds, detect incidents, and take appropriate action to mitigate impact to campus.
  • Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations.
  • Physical ability to walk or stand for considerable lengths of time.
  • Ability to drive out-of-town and operate a wheelchair van.
