Job Title: Auditor IV

We are seeking a highly skilled Auditor IV to join our team at the Texas State Auditor's Office. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing auditing work for the State Auditor's Office, the independent auditing organization of Texas state government.

Job Summary:

The successful applicant will perform risk assessments, develop audit programs, conduct audit procedures, reach conclusions based on evidence, and make recommendations to improve government operations. Work is conducted in accordance with generally accepted government auditing standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and complete a significant aspect of an audit.
  • Review IT systems and controls at state entities to assess data reliability and security and vulnerability of systems.
  • Prepare or supervise the preparation of flowcharts, diagrams, and tables that depict IT systems and processes.
  • Apply project management tools to plan and track an audit's timeframes.
  • Determine the appropriate data analysis tools and use one or more to complete audit procedures.
  • Prepare and review audit documentation to ensure conformance with auditing standards.
  • Present verbal and written information to clients and management.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, computer science, computer/management information systems or related field.
  • 2 to 4 years' experience in auditing, information technology/systems auditing, financial analysis, accounting, or other relevant fields.
  • Relevant certifications and advanced degree may substitute for one year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in public sector auditing, Single Audit Act federal compliance auditing, cost accounting, budgeting in Texas government, or accounting/business processes.
  • Desired certifications include: Certified Information Systems Auditors (CISA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or other relevant certifications.
