Job Summary:

The Assistant Finance Director for Research is a key member of the CAHNRS finance leadership team, reporting directly to the Director. This position is responsible for assisting with the overall financial management and administrative functions of a large complex college with 3 separate mission areas, Academic Programs, Research, and Extension, with $200 Million in expenditures annually and only $50 Million in permanent funding.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee accounting, budget, and finance, including one-time and recurring funding snapshots and projections, temporary and permanent commitments, and assist in department process improvement, training, developing, and implementing policies, procedures, and practices to ensure university, state, and federal compliance.

Serve as an administrative liaison to college departments and relevant university business offices, providing consultative support and best management practices for research capacity funds, royalties, F&A, fiscal notes, annual Budget Office considerations, provisos, and all other research functions.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, including at least one (1) year of managerial experience, or any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with financial, administrative systems, or similar systems, and proficient Microsoft Office skills, specifically Excel, and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications:

Land-grant university experience, grant management experience, Workday experience, sound knowledge of WSU Business Policies & Procedures, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

This position is located on the WSU Pullman campus, and the appointment may be made as an administrative professional.
