Financial Director for Research Operations

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Director for Research Operations to join our team at Washington State University. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the overall financial management and administrative functions of a large complex college with 3 separate mission areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the overall financial management and administrative functions of the college.
  • Work closely with the Associate Dean of Research and report directly to the Finance Director.
  • Provide financial support for research operations, including budget management, financial reporting, and best management practices.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and practices to ensure university, state, and federal compliance.
  • Oversee or serve as an administrative liaison to college departments and relevant university business offices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of progressively responsible relevant experience.
  • Master's degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional six (6) years of progressively responsible experience for a total of ten (10) years of experience.

About the Role: This is a hybrid/remote work opportunity available. The successful candidate will be responsible for financially supporting research operations, including budget management, financial reporting, and best management practices. They will also develop and implement policies, procedures, and practices to ensure university, state, and federal compliance.
