Job Title: Control Technician 2

The Control Technician 2 is a critical role within M.C. Dean, responsible for the fabrication of control panels, field installation, and commissioning procedures associated with control panels and field instrumentation. This position requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, layout, and install control panels, including selecting control components and preparing Bill of Materials (BOM) according to NEC and UL508A standards.
  • Size circuit breakers and fuses for control and power circuits according to specifications and/or NEC standards.
  • Install, wire, and test wiring of PLC's, VFD's, and other Solid State control components.
  • Commission and document completed control panels or circuits as necessary.
  • Troubleshoot, replace, install, and relocate industrial control circuits and components within various active industrial manufacturing processes and environments.
Requirements:
  • At least three years of experience in a shop environment and minimum of one year of electrical experience required with a high school diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret control circuits, schematics, and various line diagrams.
  • Ability to select various control components needed in the fabrication of Control Panels.
  • Ability to size circuit breakers and fuses for control and power circuits according to specifications and/or NEC standards.
  • Ability to fabricate control panels including design, layout, and install components.
  • Experience with Installation and troubleshooting of Building Automation Systems/DDC, Distech, Siemens, Niagara.
Work Environment:

The Control Technician 2 will work in a fast-paced industrial environment, requiring the ability to lift at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period. The position involves working at various heights up to 60 feet and climbing and maintaining balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders.

Abilities:
  • Lifts at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period.
  • Relocates a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders.
  • Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls, and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
Education and Certifications:

A high school degree with 4-6 years of experience is required. The Control Technician 2 must obtain, at the Company's expense, a CPR and First Aid certification within six (6) months of hire and maintain this certification status while employed by M.C. Dean.

The position requires a background investigation and drug test. The Control Technician 2 must possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
